Competition: Euro 2016
Market: France to win against Germany
Odds:
France welcome Germany to the Stade Vélodrome for tonight’s Euro 2016 semi-final clash, and are slim favourites to come out on top against the World champions to reach the final.
Both sides are unbeaten in the tournament but have contrasting qualities which could well decide the outcome in what is expected to be a close affair.
Germany topped Group C with seven points from a possible nine. They beat Northern Ireland and the Ukraine, while drawing against Poland to make it through the knockouts. Joachim Loew’s men then dispatched of Slovakia in the last-16, before beating Italy on penalties in the quarter-finals.
As for their opponents, France won Group A also with seven points. Les Blues enjoyed wins over Romania and Albania, drawing with Switzerland, and were much more convincing in the knockouts. Victory of the Republic of Ireland in the last-16 preceded a 5-2 win over Iceland in the quarter-finals so France will be full of confidence.
Germany have the tournament’s best defence, while France have the tournament’s best attack. The Germans, however, will be without three key players (Mats Hummels, Sami Khedira, Mario Gomez) which could see France (who welcome back Adil Rami, N’Kolo Kante) taking advantage.
As a result, Bet 365 are giving odds of 9/5 for France to win against Germany in normal time tonight to reach the Euro 2016 final on home soil.
